Giving Back To The Community -

The African Medical Research Foundation (AMREF) is committed to improving health and health-care in Africa.  Their aim is to ensure that every African can enjoy the right to good health, by helping to create vibrant networks of informed and empowered communities, and healthcare providers working together.

Within Kenya, AMREF operates the Flying Doctors service and works with communities in both remote regions and inner city slums.  Giving communities the support and education to deal with safe motherhood, palliative care, controlling HIV and AIDS and preventative healthcare.

Cheli & Peacock registers every safari guest with the Flying Doctors Society of Kenya, so that every guest can relax knowing that their membership fee will ensure Flying Doctors come to their rescue in the event of an emergency, and makes a contribution to the vital grass roots work of AMREF.

The Flying Doctors' Society of Africa

The Flying Doctors Service operated by AMREF is one of the most comprehensive air ambulance services in Africa, evacuating approximately 600 people annually.  The Flying Doctors’ Society is the only air ambulance rescue service with its own dedicated permanent professional medics, pilots, intensive care air ambulances, and a radio communication network linked to over 120 stations spread throughout East Africa and manned 24 hours a day.
